I cannot recommend Becky enough; I sent my horse to her for five weeks schooling and she has done a fantastic job bringing him on on the flat and over fences. She is a very sympathetic but firm rider with endless patience and has impressed me no end with her commitment to the horses in her care. I will certainly be a repeat customer.
I met Becky whilst I was looking for a horse to bring on and I knew that she was the right person to ask for advice on finding the right horse for me. She has done such an amazing job producing her horses from youngsters that I had complete confidence in her opinion. I love going to Ireland to find horses and didn't hesitate to ask Becky to come with me. She was completely focused about the sort of horse I should get and she found him! Reggie is the most perfect horse for me and we both believe that that he will achieve my ambition of getting to the Badminton Grassroots Championships
I now have regular lessons with Becky which both Reggie and I enjoy. I feel that I learn so much in these lessons and have so much to take away and practice for the next one. I feel that we are both progressing so well in our lessons that each time I go to a competition and go up a stage, I feel confident and that we are both ready for the challenge.
I also work away a few times in the year and during these times I like him to carry on being schooled. My horse is my treasure and my pride and joy so sending him away to someone who I know will look after him like their own is of upmost importance to me. The only person I trust to do this is Becky. I love it when he goes there as he is completely relaxed as soon as he walks onto the yard, like he's been there forever! And when I get on him after being away he always feels incredible and I know that she not only is very professional with his schooling, but also treats him as one of her own - he comes back a happy horse!
Before Becky had even made the move to eventing full-time, I knew that if I was in the position to have a horse with Becky then I would, as I was so impressed not only with her inherent skill but also with her horsemanship and complete dedication to her horses. Back in 2013 I joined a syndicate to own the lovely Cooley Jelly and so was finally able to have a horse with Becky, and that initial impression that Becky would be the right choice has been proved entirely right.
All owners send their horse to a professional eventer expecting that rider to be competent, and anyone watching Becky ride will easily see how accomplished she is. The difference for me was how Becky really does treat each horse as an individual and gives considerable thought and attention to their development, to their care and to doing the right thing and so I felt entirely comfortable with how Jelly was being brought on and developed, and that he was really in a safe pair of hands – a real testament to Becky, especially given my neurotic tendencies!
The other brilliant aspect of having a horse with Becky is that she’s great with owner relationships. This isn’t something that Becky pays lip service to, but rather everyone really is part of the team and is made to feel so welcome both on the yard and away at events. The actual day of a competition can so easily be a stressful experience but Becky has always been so considerate and calm, and I’ve had a lot of fun travelling around the country with the team and really enjoying the events.
I would highly recommend Becky Woolven to anybody who was thinking of placing a horse/horses with her for eventing or for bringing on young horses. She has had four of mine; all different types from a full thoroughbred, warmbloods and a rather big sports horse. She is quite happy handling mares, as two of mine are mares. I am also very impressed with her stable management and attention to detail, lovely big boxes with good clean beds etc and excellent facilities, safe grazing, and a large country estate to ride round, which is brilliant for young horses. I think she is an extremely talented rider and would have no hesitation in placing one with her again.
In 2012 I started the search for an event rider for my talented young French horse, who showed signs that in the right hands he could excel in eventing. I could not be more thrilled with the way Becky has carefully produced and formed a partnership with Joe in his first season. His last BE event of the 2013 season could not have ended on a better note; 21 dressage and double clear. The facilities at Charlton Down are 6* with excellent on site training facilities and beautiful stabling and grazing paddocks. Becky is a rising future star in the sport and being an owner of a talented partnership makes my involvement with eventing more exciting.
A few months ago we sent our 5 year old Pro-Set mare to Becky with the goal of general improvement and to give her an insight into a few low key events. When our mare arrived at Becky's she was extremely unbalanced, quite quirky and found work reasonably difficult. I visited Charlton Down House where Becky is based on a regular four weekly basis. Without fail, every time we noticed a massive improvement both in the mare's work but also her attitude. We have and continue to be absolutely delighted with Becky's work, her thoroughness and talented professionalism. Unlike some riders Becky really listens to her owners requirements and makes every effort to fulfil their desires. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Becky to any owner who has the foresight to use her in their training regime where she and her team will be a real asset to you and bring out the very best in your horse. A huge thank you for your continued assistance and fantastic results!
